I. PURPOSE [back to top]
- The purpose of the CNCA website is to enhance communication between the members of California Northern Coastal Area of Alcoholics Anonymous.
- We may also use the website to disseminate information about AA to the general public.
- To promote the unity so necessary to our Fellowship, we should strive to achieve website accessibility. We should provide content in English and Spanish wherever possible.
II. WEBSITE REGISTRATION AND ADMINISTRATION [back to top]
- InterNIC Registration
The website shall be registered with the InterNIC as http://www.cnca06.org, in the name of the California Northern Coastal Area of Alcoholics Anonymous. - Ownership of registration
"Chairperson of California Northern Coastal Area of Alcoholics Anonymous" shall be named owner of the domain registration. - Billing contact
"Treasurer of California Northern Coastal Area of Alcoholics Anonymous" shall be the billing contact. - Technical contact
The technical contact with the InterNIC will necessarily be the website's Internet Service Provider. - Administrative Contact
The administrative contact with the InterNIC shall be the Website Committee Chair. - Website Committee
- Purpose
- The committee is responsible for day-to-day operation of the website. The following tasks represent its primary duties.
- Updating standing content in a timely manner
- Recommending and adding new content as appropriate
- Communicate and coordinate with the Area Committee
- Maintaining the website and ensuring its availability
- Monitoring the website
- Other responsibilities of the committee are listed in the attached job descriptions of the committee members.
- The committee is responsible for day-to-day operation of the website. The following tasks represent its primary duties.
- Committee structure
- The committee shall consist of five people. The positions they will hold are Website Committee Chair, Website Editor, Alternate Website Editor, and two (2) Website Committee At-Large Members. Their responsibilities are listed in the attached job descriptions.
- Members of the Website Committee need not be members of the California Northern Coastal Area Committee.
- In November of the second year of a panel, the Website Committee will elect a current member of the committee to serve as a Website Committee member for the following panel. If no one makes themselves available to serve as Website Editor, then in II.F.2.d) below, the Area Committee will appoint five (5) people to the Website Committee. The Website Committee will then elect the Chair, Website Editor, and Alternate Website Editor at their first meeting.
- In October of the second year of a panel, the Area Officers will ask for volunteers for the remaining four positions of the Committee. In November and December, the incoming Area Officers will appoint four (4) people to the Committee. These selections should be complete by the December Area Committee meeting. At the first meeting of the Website Committee, the Committee members will elect a Chair and the Alternate Website Editor. The remaining two members will serve as the At-Large Members.
- All members of the Website Committee are expected to serve for the two years of the panel.
- The positions of Website Editor and Alternate Website Editor require some unique skills. Therefore, Rotation is encouraged; however, the individuals that hold those positions may serve in more than one panel as circumstances warrant.
- An Area Officer should serve the Committee as advisor or liaison. We recommend that the Area Officers rotate share this responsibility. The Area Officer advisor or liaison is not a member of the committee and does not have a vote in the business of the committee.
- The committee shall consist of five people. The positions they will hold are Website Committee Chair, Website Editor, Alternate Website Editor, and two (2) Website Committee At-Large Members. Their responsibilities are listed in the attached job descriptions.
- Processes and Procedures
- New content and content removal
- If the Website Committee wishes to place new content on the website beyond the standing content listed in III.A., they must present a housekeeping motion to the Area Committee. The Website Committee may make updates to the standing content listed in III.A. without presenting those updates to the Area Committee.
- The Area Committee may request the removal of content. Requests for removal of material should also be presented as housekeeping motions.
- If the Website Committee wishes to place new content on the website beyond the standing content listed in III.A., they must present a housekeeping motion to the Area Committee. The Website Committee may make updates to the standing content listed in III.A. without presenting those updates to the Area Committee.
- The Website Committee shall meet a minimum of four (4) times per year. It must report to the Area Committee at least four (4) times per year. The reports shall be included in CNCA Comments. Committee meetings shall be open; any interested member of CNCA may attend.
- The website shall always be displayed at every Assembly so that those without regular access to a computer can view the website.

- Pre-Defined Content
- A Home Page that includes a section entitled "About CNCA", highlights of changed internal content including status of motions at Area Committee Meetings and Area Assemblies and a section entitled "What's New in CNCA." Optionally, there may be a feature article written by an area officer.
- Calendar of events
- CNCA events
- Regional, NCCAA, H&I, ACYPAA, WACYPAA and Pre-Assembly dinner events that are targeted to all of CNCA.
- GSO and International events
- District events may be considered for inclusion in the future
- Fliers may be placed online for CNCA and Regional events only.

- If requested by the District, information about District General Service meetings (frequency, time and place), mailing address and email contact (the actual email address will be hidden from view), DCMC name (first name, last initial).

- Other guidelines regarding content
- Tradition 11 states that "we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and films." The website will contain no individual's first and last name in any unsecured area of the site.
- The website will only contain links to other AA websites. It shall be understood that the CNCA website has no control over content displayed on linked sites. The Area Committee may request removal of an included link by the same process described in II.F.3.a).(2) above.
- Tradition 6 states that "an AA group ought never endorse, finance or lend the AA name to any related facility or outside enterprise…" Therefore, the website will contain no banner advertising or other advertising of any sort.
- Tradition 11 states that "we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and films." The website will contain no individual's first and last name in any unsecured area of the site.
