Technology Committee

What We Do

The Technology Committee’s scope is to recommend and track technology updates that may be required for Area business work, manage equipment, serve as a technology resource for the Area, and follow GSO recommendations on technology use. Additionally, the committee serves as the technical producer of CNCA06 hybrid events in coordination with Area officers for as long as the Area requires.

The committee may also be tasked with researching, developing, and implementing new tech tools at the request of the Area.

Why We Do It

The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020–2022 served as a turning point for the way the Area conducted its business, primarily through the implementation of online ACMs, which eventually developed into hybrid ACMs and Assemblies. The Area has voiced its desire that hybrid Area meeting productions continue. This improves access for members of Area 06 and attempts to limit barriers to participation.

Our History

The Technology Committee as it exists today is a combination of two separate initiatives.

In 2017, in response to discussions at the ACM, the Area Officers established an Ad-Hoc Committee on Technology. One of the Ad-Hoc Committee’s recommendations was to establish a new Standing Committee to address the technology needs of the Area, which was officially adopted at the 2020 Summer Assembly. The Technology Committee met for the first time in October of 2020 and, during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, produced virtual ACMs and Assemblies.

The second iteration of the committee arose as the Area transitioned out of the pandemic and decided to develop a permanent hybrid format. In January 2023, the responsibility for hybrid meetings initially fell to the Area Assembly Coordinator. However, this responsibility later moved to the Technology Committee, leading to the formation of a dedicated Hybrid Team.

In 2025, the committee focused on stabilizing hybrid functions and looking outward to see how it could better serve the Area. The committee implemented the rollout of new communication and digital storage tools. Today, in addition to providing hybrid production for all Area events, the committee hosts tech workshops and provides information and education to Area 06 members upon request.

Monthly Meetings

The Tech Committee meets online on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM. All are invited to attend.
