Connecting Your Group to the Whole of A.A.
Registration is how your group’s voice is heard in the General Service structure. Whether you have a brand-new group or a new GSR has just stepped up to serve, we are here to help you get connected.

Check out our Registration 101 Guide for a simple, step-by-step overview of what registration is, why it matters, and answers to common myths and FAQs.
Step 1: Find Your Local District (Recommended)
The most effective way to register is through your District Registrar.
Why? They are your local neighbors in service. They can answer specific questions about your area and welcome you into your local service community.
Action: Find your District’s meeting time and location here: Districts.
Step 2: Gather Your Information
Before you fill out a form, make sure you have the “Big 5” ready:
- Group Name & ID Number (if known)
- District Number
- Primary Contact Info (Name, Email, and Mailing Address)
- Meeting Details (Type, Location, and City)
- Language Preference (English or Spanish)
Note: For your privacy, a last initial is perfectly acceptable for all names.
Step 3: Submit Your Registration

Common Questions
- Virtual Groups: Yes! Virtual groups are encouraged to register. You do not need a physical street address, but you do need to choose a “City” (usually where the group originated or where the group contact/GSR lives) to determine your District.
- The “30-Day” Period: Please allow up to 30 days for new groups to be officially registered with GSO. This allows the area and district an opportunity to welcome your new group.
- The GSR Kit: Once registered, GSO will send you a welcome kit. You can choose a digital version or a physical version sent via mail.
