| Who We Are CNCA06’s Technology Committee is composed of a minimum of six appointed A.A. members who have a passion for technology in A.A. What We Do The Technology Committee’s scope is to recommend and track technology updates that may be required for Area business work, serve as a technology resource for the Area and to serve as the technical producer of CNCA06 live/online (hybrid) events as long as the Area requires. The Technology Committee’s Hybrid Team works closely with the Area Assembly Coordinator for maximum collaboration between Area Officers to produce hybrid monthly Area Committee Meetings (ACMs) and Area Assemblies. Why We Do It The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2022 served as a shifting point for the way that the Area conducted its business, primarily through the implementation of online ACMs, which eventually developed into live/online (hybrid) ACMs and Assemblies. The Area has voiced its desire that hybrid Area meeting productions continue. Our History The Technology Committee as it exists today is a combination of two separate initiatives. In 2017, in response to discussion at the ACM, the Area Officers established an Ad-Hoc Committee on Technology. One Ad-Hoc Committee recommendation was to establish a new Standing Committee to address the Technology needs of the Area. At its Summer 2020 Assembly, the Area approved the creation of this new Standing Committee. The Technology Committee met for the first time in October of 2020 and, during the COVID pandemic shutdown, produced virtual ACMs and Assemblies. The second iteration of the Committee arose as we exited the COVID pandemic and began discussion about returning to in-person Area meetings. Area members expressed a strong desire to develop a hybrid format in performing Area General Service. Again, an Ad-Hoc Committee was formed to recommend the details needed to produce hybrid Area meetings. Final reports were presented at the ACM in April and May of 2022. At the beginning of Panel 73 (January 2023), the responsibility for hybrid meetings initially was the responsibility of the Area Assembly Coordinator. However, it later moved to the Technology Committee, and the formation of a Hybrid Team, with an Hybrid Event Coordinator leading a team of trusted A.A. servants with a passion for technology. Monthly Meetings The Tech Committee meets online on the second Monday of each month. All are invited. |
